Why does all the “Art” in my flat point to me having an alcohol problem? Also, I use the term ‘Art’ very, very loosely.
I saw something similar to this in Pintrest, and then thought about the empty wall over my sofa. Its almost as empty as my heart. Ahaha, just kidding, nothing could be as empty as that.
The first thing I needed to create this master piece was wine bottles. So I enlisted the help of the only person I knew could solve this problem … my mother. The woman that taught me how to drink. Just kidding. We sat down for a girlie film night with snacks and of course, wine.
Side note, we tried a mojito inspired white wine and boy did that go down easy. I do believe my charming mother likened it to something derogatory ‘That wine goes down like a slut …..’ I’ll let you fill in the rest.
So the morning after the night before, I may or may not have woken up resembling something from a horror film, but I trooped on. I headed back to my parents to borrow some materials for the Wine Bottle Art.
I soaked the labels off the wine bottles with warm water and a little drop of washing up liquid. It took about 10 minutes soaking and then a further 5 minutes of impatient scrubbing.
I then took a length of twine and glue gunned it to the sides of the bottle neck, acting like a hanging loop.
Then, taking the same type of twine, I glued one end to the base of the neck and wound it round and up, to the mouth of the bottle, like so..
I then glued the end of the twine to the top, to keep in in place.
I repeated this on the other 2 bottles to create a matching set!
For the decoration, I had earlier picked up some ‘gems’ and fake flowers from the Range, so I poured the ‘gems’ evenly into the bottles and then set about arranging the flowers.
My colour scheme, as you all probably know from a few other posts, is duck egg. So I chose 2 duck egg – sort of blue – sort of teal flowers and then a white flower too, to break things up. The white one has a bit of glitter on it, so I was sold on that alone!
I then took a hammer and nails to my wall above my sofa (I know… risky.) to hang my masterpiece.
I don’t think I did too bad of a job… what do you think?
Here is a close up of each one, just in case you want to give it a go too!
Let me know what you think!
